To deactivate the function FN key on your HCL laptop

To deactivate the function FN key on your HCL laptop, follow the steps below:

Option 1
-You need to press the FN+ shift+number lockkeys.

If the above mehod does not work follow the option 2:

Option 2
-Turn on your laptop and then press F10 to configure the BIOS settings.
-Look for the system configuration tab.
-Choose the DISABLE the action keys mode. 
-This way, the f1-f12 key will function even without fn
and the dim light, and other ctrls using the fnkeys.
